Super Bowl LIX: First Responders in New Orleans Attack Lauded
- New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan introduced the police officers and other first responders who were on hand for the New Year's Day attack in the French Quarter that killed 14 people.
An East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputy was hit by a car while directing traffic after Super Bowl LIX, and the driver fled the scene, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The deputy was assisting with traffic at the intersection of Poydras Street and Convention Center Boulevard when the incident occurred, according to to NOPD. The area, which is about a block away from Canal Street, is several blocks away from the Superdome.
Emergency Medical Service arrived on scene to treat the officer, whose condition was not known Sunday night.
A suspect had not been arrested by 11 p.m. The investigation is ongoing.
