Laser Technology Inc. has integrated a speed laser with a digital video camera and a built-in touchscreen activated data recorder, making the TruCAM a sophisticated speed enforcement tool. Integrating all 3 components into a single handheld, portable laser, a complete chain of video evidence is collected, along with a high-resolution image that identifies vehicle make and model, license plate number and facial characteristics of the driver creating indisputable evidence. The TruCAM is more than a speed enforcement laser and video camera; the data it produces can feed into any Geographic Information System (GIS) framework. By utilizing GPS, it automatically generates location-based information every time the TruCAM is used. LTI has patented technology that measures the time and distance between vehicles. This technology allows traffic offers to validate a following too closely (a.k.a tailgating) violation. The TruCAM is able to acquire critical measurements and back it up with video and photographic evidence. It is also capable of enforcing multiple speeds (for commercial vehicle speed enforcement) and even has a rear-plate mode that helps capture motorcycle license plates.
