DETROIT -- Detroit police officers likely stopped a Grinch from stealing Christmas from residents in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
Here's what happened, according to police:
At 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, Officer Corey Davis and Officer Malcom Jackson made a traffic stop near West McNichols and Freeland after a man flagged them down, saying that the driver of a black Dodge Caravan crashed, and then took off.
The officers spotted the vehicle and stopped it.
Then they noticed there were several packages in the back of the van. When they asked the driver what the packages were for, he didn't have a good answer, police said. It turns out, they were addressed to Farmington and Farmington Hills residents.
The officers called the Farmington Hills and Farmington police, who said the packages — 41 of them — were reported stolen. The driver was arrested, then taken to the Detroit Detention Center.
