Pittsburg Police Department recognized as a StarChase Public Safety Technology Center of Excellence in California
Virginia Beach, Aug. 28, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- StarChase LLC, a leading GPS public safety technology company in the law enforcement and defense market, is pleased to announce Pittsburg Police Department as a 2018 StarChase Center of Excellence (COE) recipient. StarChase’s COE program celebrates agencies that have made outstanding contributions to improving law enforcement and community safety during high-risk vehicle events and providing multi-jurisdictional impact while also utilizing StarChase technologies. It also identifies agencies that execute innovative and effective public safety programs devoted to addressing crime, mitigating risks, and positively impacting their community.
The COE program is designed to be a collaborative effort between StarChase and law enforcement. As a member, agencies benefit from technology, training, and advocacy; and have ultimately demonstrated they have been a resource for multi-jurisdictional impact. Chosen COE agencies recognize the importance of implementing law enforcement’s best practices using progressive technology and enhanced officer tactics and training.
“Our company recognizes agencies across the country for their commitment to helping address criminal issues, striving to mitigate risks for their agency members and the communities they serve, as well as being a resource for multi-jurisdictional impact. Since PPD led the effort being the first in the State, other California agencies have followed their leadership. We work with so many amazing agencies and PPD’s initiative and professional standards exemplify their agency’s long-standing devotion to the community they serve”, said Bryan Stone, Vice President of Business Development and Sales, StarChase.
“The Pittsburg Police Department experienced a significant increase in vehicle pursuits and had to find a way to reduce these pursuits while still doing our part to identify and arrest the individuals who were fleeing from us. StarChase was the answer. I admit I was a bit skeptical at first, but their technology works! This innovative approach has no doubt kept our officers and residents safe and has played a role in lowering crime in our community. We are honored to receive the 2018 Center of Excellence Award from StarChase”, said Brian Addington, Chief of Police, Pittsburg Police Department.
The Pittsburg Police Department’s overall initiative to regionally address stolen vehicles, and other related crimes, by equipping their force with progressive public safety solutions and training has transferred cooperatively with neighboring departments. The agency’s incorporation of new tactics was essential to maintaining public trust and strengthening community relations.
