A Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable was killed in a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer early Tuesday morning.
Constable Adrian Oliver, 28, was heading back to detachment headquarters in Surrey, British Columbia around 5 a.m. near the end of his shift when the collision occurred at 148th Street and 64th Avenue, according to Surrey NOW.
The impact crushed the front of his unmarked cruiser, killing Oliver.
The driver of the semi was uninjured in the crash.
The three-and-a-half-year veteran of the RCMP is survived by his mother, father and two brothers.
"He was an outstanding police officer, with a great attitude and commitment to serve others," Chief Supt. Bill Fordy said. "I want to express my most sincere condolences to his family, friends and coworkers during this difficult time."
Vancouver Police are currently investigating the crash.
