Alabama Police Officer Collapses, Dies On Duty

A Town Creek, Ala. police officer suffered a fatal heart attack while on duty Wednesday morning.

Officer Roger O'Dell had just picked up two runaways from an apartment complex when he collapsed, according to WHNT-TV.

Officials said that one of the runaways was able to get from the back of the cruiser to the police radio to call dispatch for help.

It was too late by the time responders arrived after the officer died instantly from the heart attack.

O'Dell leaves behind a wife and four children.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
