A Tennessee sheriff's detective died from the injuries he suffered in a weekend crash.
Rutherford County Sheriff's Det. Jacob Beu was critically injured in a crash Sunday, according to the agency. Deputies responded to the incident, and Beu was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
“Detective Beu was a valued detective in the Narcotics Division,” Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh said in a statement. “We send our sympathy to his family and his Sheriff’s Office family in his death.”
Beu, a veteran member of the sheriff's office, was part of the SWAT unit, and he was named Officer of the Month in August 2021 for his work in a response to floods in the area. Beu also served as a Marine.
