A New Jersey Veterans Affairs police officer died after suffering a medical emergency while training in Arkansas last month.

Cpl. Raymond Kuuchi of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Police Services was at the VA Law Enforcement Training Center in North Little Rock on Sept. 2, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page. He was participating in Ground Defense and Recovery/Jujitsu training when he suffered an apparent heart attack and collapsed.

"Raymond spent his life dedicated to security and upholding the rule of law," stated a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for Kuuchi's wife and four young children. "His impact on the lives he touched will never be forgotten."

Kuuchi had served with the VA police force for nearly four years and was stationed in East Orange. He also had worked for two years at the Sea Gate Police Department in New York.
