An investigation by the Butler County Sheriff's Office has found that an Oxford police officer did not violate policy when he used a Taser gun on an intoxicated man who later died.
Kevin Piskura died several days after he was shocked outside a bar in April while confronting officers trying to arrest his friend.
Toxicology reports revealed that Piskura's blood-alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit. A cause of death has not been determined to this point.
In a news release Thursday, Sheriff Richard Jones wrote "After considerable investigation of the collected documents, videos and statements, interviews personally conducted by us ...
"We find that this investigation revealed that Patrolman Geoff Robinson's actions were reasonable in the amount of force used during said incident and therefore, DID NOT violate the Oxford Police Department's policy or procedures."
The investigation was made at the request of Oxford Police Chief Steve Schwein.
