A Gift Horse In The Mouth Just recently I've run into a situation where a number of people, using a totally free service, have decided that the service isn't being provided the way they'd like, so they're complaining about it. Of those complaining only one has offered to PAY for the service if said service would be modified to his desires, but the remainder of them - those complaining - complained even louder at the thought of having to pay for it. So, let me get this straight: You're taking advantage of a free service; don't 100% like the service provided; keep using the service; and refuse to pay to "upgrade" it to your liking. Hmmm... can you say hypocrite? It's a rare occasion in this world that we get anything for free anymore. The service in question is provided to the users totally free. Advertising dollars generated as a side effect of the service are what pay for the cost of providing the service. Imagine - if you will - this as a daily newspaper that you never had to pay for. Heck, it is essentially like MSNBC or CNN online. You can go there; read the news - and not pay for a subscription. If you don't like the news that THEY are posting, you're free to find another news site, right? Why would you sit around and post comments on their site complaining that they aren't reporting on the news YOU want? Can anyone help me understand this idiocy? Or is it simply that some people are never happy unless they have something to complain about? What do you think?
