The search for a missing Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper has run into its fourth day.
On Wednesday morning, a dive team searched the area where Fred Guthrie Jr.'s truck was found, but did not have luck locating his body.
Later in the afternoon, the patrol again brought out its helicopter and patrol boats to increase the area covered in their search by air and water.
The search will resume at daylight today with additional boats -- some of which are coming from out of state, said Sgt. Sheldon Lyon, spokesman with the Highway Patrol.
"We all want to find him so bad," Mr. Lyon said. "Who knows, it could happen in the next five minutes, five days, or even five weeks."
The body of Mr. Guthrie's K-9 partner, Reed, was found around 7 p.m. Tuesday. He floated to the surface about three hours after a Black Hawk began to dam the area where Mr. Guthrie's still-running truck was found.
Mr. Lyon said a local veterinarian examined the dog's body and determined his condition was consistent with drowning, so no foul play is suspected in their deaths.
The 17-year-veteran and his German shepherd, who were assigned to the patrol's Water Patrol Division, went missing around 3 p.m. Monday while working flood duty in Holt County.
"We have had lots of people that have seen this story and are calling our office in Jefferson City because they want to do something," Mr. Lyon said.
