VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla.

A Volusia County woman faces child neglect charges after police said she left a 2-year-old girl alone in her car.

Volusia County Sheriff's deputies said Sharon Rosenberg, 63, was shopping for groceries Friday at the Love Whole Foods Café & Market on Williamson Boulevard at the time.

Deputies found the child asleep in the car. The doors were locked and one window was slightly open, said deputies.

Rosenberg told police that she left the child in the car because the girl was asleep and she didn't plan on being in the store for too long.

Store employees told police that Rosenberg was in the store for about 30 to 45 minutes.

They also told police that they have talked to Rosenberg about leaving the child alone in the car before, but Rosenberg denied the accusations.

Rosenberg was released from jail after posting $2,500 bond.
