Nov. 24--Police are looking for three people involved in an attempted car theft who were shot at by an off-duty Houston officer, authorities said.

The officer interrupted a man about 9 p.m. Wednesday who had broken into a vehicle at an apartment parking lot in the 3200 block of Yellowstone Boulevard, near Texas 288 and Old Spanish Trail, in south Houston.

Two others, apparently watching in a Ford F150, then brandished a gun at the officer, police said. The officer shot at them several times. They then drove away.

The man interrupted by the officer then tried to grab a weapon he was carrying, police said. The officer then fired at him and he ran.
