A homeowner answering the doorbell of his home in Valley Stream interrupted a robbery in progress of a deliveryman outside the house.

A homeowner answering the doorbell of his home in Valley Stream interrupted a robbery in progress of a deliveryman outside the house Monday night, police said.

No one was injured.

Nassau County police are still searching for a gunman.

Police said the incident happened on Ash Street at about 7:40 p.m. as a 49-year-old Chinese food delivery man was attempting to deliver an order.

Problem was, police said, the homeowner didn't place the order. It was a set-up.

Police said the delivery man, working for the Rosedale-based restaurant, rang the side door bell at the house and, just as he did, a gun-toting "male subject" stepped out of the shadows -- and demanded cash.

However, police said the homeowner answered the door, interrupting the robbery in progress. The gunman, whose face was partially covered by a cloth, fled.

No money was taken.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
