The man accused in the death of a Hodgenville, Ky. police officer pleaded guilty and was sentenced Monday morning.
LaRue Circuit Judge Charles Sims III sentenced Jason Lee Avis to 15 years in prison in the death of Officer Mark A. Taulbee, according to The News Enterprise.
Avis led the officer on a pursuit on Sept. 16, 2012 before the officer lost control of his cruiser.
The 30-year-old admitted in court to driving speeds of up to 100 mph and said he saw the officer in pursuit, but refused to stop.
Avis faced charges of second-degree manslaughter, first-degree fleeing or evading police, leaving the scene of an accident and second-degree persistent felony offense.
Members of Taulbee's family and Hodgenville Police Chief Steve Johnson were present in court.
