launched of the Western Connecticut 911 Communications Center. IXP provides staffing for the center as well as system-wide IT support, resulting in enhanced efficiency and long-term cost savings. Instead of routing calls into both police and fire departments, the streamlined 911 center will direct all calls to the new dispatch center within the police department. This centralization is expected to result in significant budgetary savings for the City of Danbury—which plans further regional consolidation. The use of civilian dispatch will also free up four Danbury police officers and seven firefighters per shift, allowing those individuals to return to their core mission duties and strengthen public safety.
