MINNETONKA, MN -- DHS has released grant guidance for DHS Grants in the FY2008. These grants focus on three funding priorities:
- Measuring progress against the National Preparedness Guidelines
- Strengthening preparedness planning
- Strengthen IED prevention, protection and recovery
The Recon Scout supports all three of these DHS grant priorities.
The Recon Scout meets the stand-alone requirement that "25% of the overall funding must address preparedness planning and mitigating the threat of improvised explosive devices." This 1.2lb robot can be immediately thrown into a dangerous situation to remotely gather information without putting an individual in harm’s way.

The Recon Scout is approved for immediate purchase using the grant funds available from Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) and the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP).
