TSSi's M9 Bag Used in Capture of Bombing Suspect
Harrisonburg, Virginia, April 22, 2013 – TSSi expresses our sincere gratitude to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and emergency medical personnel who provided an immediate and tireless response following the recent terrorist attack in Boston, MA. We are proud to have played a small role in directly supporting the individuals and organizations involved in the relentless investigation and pursuit of the accused terrorists. Use of the M-9 Assault Medical Backpack is evidenced by its presence in photos taken during the apprehension of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Regardless of the need, TSSi pledges our total commitment to all emergency personnel by providing only the highest quality equipment, custom solutions and professional services, as we have since 1980.
The M-9 Assault Medical Backpack from TSSi was specifically designed to better fulfill the needs of the operational medic involved in confined spaces, and is the original of the slim-line medical backpacks on the market today. The M-9 was designed with the guidance of a Physician’s Assistant (PA), who also served as a Special Operations 18D medic, to provide a backpack with a very thin profile that carries the necessary medical support items for operational medics. The M-9 is equipped with multiple carry options, including: carry handles; backpack straps; waist strap; and removable straps designed to be sewn onto body armor or load bearing vest (LBV). TSSi has also developed Field Ready Contents for the M-9. The kit comes equipped with the necessary supplies for use by a Tactical EMT, Military Medic, or other skilled provider for “up front” treatment of patients in the tactical or combat zones. The contents were specifically chosen as the most likely needed materials to quickly treat life-threatening conditions at the point of injury and to prepare the patient for extraction. The slim (three-inch total bag thickness) design of the M-9 allows the medic to move swiftly through narrow openings and vehicle or aircraft doorways to reach a patient’s side.
