Icom America Releases HF F8101 Radio Transceiver for Long-Range Communications
BELLEVUE, WA — Icom America, a leading two-way radio solutions provider, announces the new IC-F8101 HF transceiver for over-the-horizon (HF-OTH) communications. This new multi-mode radio is user-friendly, requires no infrastructure and is suitable for business and industry, utilities, public safety and government entities.
Icom’s F8101 desktop/mobile radio utilizes Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) to automatically select the most appropriate channel for communication. Selcall (Selective Calling) is also available and includes selective, phone, message, position, status, emergency calls and channel test call. The F8101 powers digital signal processor (DSP) technology, which improves transmitter/receiver performance and provides flexible filter settings. For streamlined operation, the radio allows administrators to control functions accessed by the user. The F8101 also features clear talk and three types of mute functions for added convenience.
The compact F8101 is built to MIL-STD 810 specifications and rated IP54 for dust and water resistance. The 125W radio supports a fanless design and performs at full duty cycle voice mode. When combined with the optional external cooling fan unit, the F8101 achieves 100% duty cycle to promote stable, continuous operation in digital and voice mode. Users can check the radio’s condition by using the BITE (Built-in Test Equipment) function.
Icom’s F8101 is GPS compatible (when connected to an external GPS receiver) and can access HF email using a PC via USB port (a third-party module is also required for data communications). Two types of automatic high-speed tuning antennas are available: the AH-760 heavy-duty moving coil antenna and the AH-740 relay-driven compact antenna.
The F8101 will be available now with a suggested retail price of $3750.00. For more information, visit the Icom F8101 web page online.
