OAKLEY STANDARD ISSUE INTRODUCES PRIZM™ EYEWEAR

Feb. 11, 2014
Advanced Contrast Enhanced Vision for Shooting

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif., Jan. 13, 2014 – Oakley Standard Issue, a division of Oakley, Inc., today announced that is has engineered contrast enhancing Prizm lenses for improved target visualization. Oakley Prizm lenses provide the user with specialized lens alternatives for varying light conditions and environments. The lenses strategically boost specified wavelengths along the visible color spectrum to maximize contrast between the colors in a target and the surrounding environment, resulting in reduced eye fatigue and increased visualization of a target for the user.

Traditionally, eyewear reduces light and filters glare using a standard array of gray lens tints. The Prizm technology utilizes the adjustment or “tuning” of dyes in order to heighten specific colors as it relates to both the sport application and environment of the user. In terms of marksmanship, the lenses offer improved contrast and visual separation between targets and different backgrounds, in both bright and low light conditions.

The Oakley SI Prizm™ lenses were developed with direct input and in conjunction with the United States Army’s elite competitive shooters.

“The contrast in every situation is unbelievable,” said Tyler Payne. “Even in the rain, the steel targets and props on the range really popped out.”

Oakley Standard Issue offers two contrast enhanced Prizm lenses, TR22 and TR45. Both lenses are compatible with the SI Ballistic M Frame 3.0, SI Radar and SI Flak Jacket XLJ models.

Oakley SI Ballistic M Frame 3.0 Prizm glasses offer:

  • Fine-tuned optics to increase target/background contrast in a variety of light conditions.
  • Reduced eye fatigue and strain.
  • Meets or exceeds impact and optical requirements per ANSI Z87.1 2003/2010.
  • Meets or exceeds ballistic fragmentation requirements per MIL PRF 32432 (Clause 4.4.3.3.4).
  • Advanced anti-fog coating and hard coating for scratch resistance.
  • Composed of Plutonite®, Oakley’s high purity optical-grade polycarbonate.

“Arguably the most demanding sports for superior optics are shooting and hunting,” said Oakley Standard Issue Product Manager, Drew Wallace. “The TR22 and TR45 allow in enough light to help a shooter do his job without squinting or causing excess eye strain. The ability to improve the eye’s capacity to acquire targets, identify objects, lines, colors and images is an immediate advantage.”
All SI Prizm eyewear will be available on OakleySI.com in late January 2014.
