The iAccess Systems Inc. VA100 Blood Vessel Authentication System is one of the first two-factor Biometric Identity and Access Management devices to use a PIN number and the unique image of the blood vessel pattern in a finger for registration and authentication. The blood vessel image is created using a permeating, near infrared light and a high resolution CCD camera. Near-infrared light makes it possible to obtain the trans-illumination image of the blood vessel pattern in the finger. Because vein patterns are next to impossible to duplicate, the system can authenticate an individual with a False Acceptance Rate - FAR of one in one million and a False Rejection Rate - FRR of one in ten thousand, making it especially effective for high security applications. Authentication time is less one second.
