BKFORENSICS INTRODUCES SIM ANALYZER - SOFTWARE DESIGNED TO RECOVER, INTERPRET DATA FROM CELL PHONE SIM CARDS
BKForensics, a Pennsylvania-based business that developed the first automated software capable of interpreting binary data extracted from cell phones, has developed another software product to retrieve content and information from SIM cards.
SIM Analyzer is designed to help law enforcement professionals acquire last number dialed, abbreviated dialing numbers, active and deleted text messages, and other evidence from cell phones. The software offers users the capability to:
• Retrieve SIM card contents and create a readable report so that the information can be reanalyzed, even after the physical card is no longer available.
• Acquire text messages that may have been written in Arabic or other foreign languages.
• Create a clone SIM card that can be used to keep a cell phone operating but disconnected from the provider network, in effect blocking "kill" codes sent by providers to delete information and protect customer privacy. The clone card can also prevent call detail logs from being deleted.
• Create a SIM card image file protected by an MD5 hash value. SIM Analyzer allows the user to create two files - an unprotected file that can be read easily using any text editor and one that is encrypted using an MD5 formula. This feature allows the examiner to preserve the integrity of the original file while also sharing the contents in discovery - which can be critical to legal proceedings.
SIM Analyzer is available in two different versions - standard and pro. The standard or "lite" version includes the software and a SIM card reader for a cost of $134.95. The pro version comes with the software, a SC/PC compliant USB SIM card reader, a SIM card adapter and four admin SIM cards that can be used for cloning. The cost for the pro version is $549.95 for law enforcement and $824.95 for corporate. A full year of support is also included in both the standard and pro versions.
Law enforcement officers who sign up to take BKForensics' "Cell Phone Forensics 101" training class will receive SIM Analyzer Pro for free. To find a training location, visit www.bkforensics.com. Website visitors can also test SIM Analyzer Pro before purchasing it by downloading a full working version of the product online.
SIM Analyzer Pro is the second product to be brought to development by BKForensics in less than 14 months. The company's first product, Cell Phone Analyzer, was developed to interpret cell phone flash files, bringing simplicity to the field of cell phone forensics. To help law enforcement officials learn how to use these valuable tools, BKForensics has also developed a training program that is being offered at locations across the country. Based in Warrington, PA, BKForensics is comprised of active and retired federal, state and local law enforcement officers as well as academic professionals working in the field of computer and cell phone forensics. The company developed the first and currently the only automated software capable of interpreting binary data extracted from cell phones. For more information, visit www.bkforensics.com.
