THE WAIT IS OVER - FACIAL RECOGNITION IS HERE!
After some intense development and with the help of one of our incredible clients, Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California, Knightscope is finally able to offer facial recognition software utilizing deep learning to detect, analyze and compare faces on its K1 security robot platform to help enhance Workplace Violence Prevention (WVP) programs for organizations across the United States.
We recently announced the beta release of facial recognition at ISC West, the largest US security event held each spring in Las Vegas. Demonstration of the new feature helped make this year’s event one of the busiest and most successful trade shows for Knightscope to date. Prospective clients were able to upload a photo into the Knightscope Security Operations Center (KSOC) and then watch the K1 detect and report them as they moved about the booth. One creative individual even attempted to elude ‘capture’ by donning a pair of dark sunglasses to no avail.
While facial recognition is largely seen as a tool to protect against known threats, it is also capable of greeting VIPs with a personal message and notifying our clients of VIP arrivals on site. It’s a great way for businesses to think outside the box to deliver a greater return on their security investment.
4th GENERATION KNIGHTSCOPE K5 ENTERS THE WORKFORCE
It’s hard to believe that we started development of the 4th generation K5 over two years ago. So many lessons learned and so much customer feedback/input was poured into the all-new machine. Looking back over internal communications from April 2017, it was interesting to find a note from one of our lead engineers on the subject: “I am confident that we will be able to translate the last 4 years of experience into K5v4, ultimately elevating the Knightscope ADM.”
The first K5v4 deployed this week at an existing client location. In spite of all the testing and tweaking done at our headquarters in Silicon Valley, history has taught us that there is still much to be learned and done out in the wild before it is ready for a full release. We will continue to work closely with our client to ensure that the new addition to their fleet operates and performs as expected, and soon it will be approved for our very anxious Client Development team to begin sharing the possibilities in new deployments.
