SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. --
A Spartanburg County deputy was charged with driving too fast for conditions after being involved in a wreck, according to Highway Patrol troopers.
The wreck happened at 11:40 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 585 near Highway 221 heading into Spartanburg.
Troopers said a woman had slowed down for traffic and the vehicle behind her hit the rear of her car.
Troopers said the vehicle that hit her was driven by Ted Beaty.
Beaty was charged with driving too fast for conditions.
Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Ivey said Beaty is a Sergeant at the Sheriff’s Office.
Ivey said Beaty has been employed with the Sheriff's Office since 1978 and he was driving his Sheriff's office issued unmarked Dodge Durango.
Ivey said the Sheriff’s Office will review the accident investigation report by the Highway Patrol and then decide if Beaty will face any disciplinary action.
Troopers said no one was hurt and both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
