Oct. 27--A carjacking and stabbing led to a police pursuit involving two police departments this morning, authorities said. The chase ended with a crash that sent two people to the hospital.

Henderson Police said the incident began about 7 a.m. when a man tried to stop another man from taking his car, which was parked outside a home near Newport Drive and Pueblo Boulevard, east of Boulder Highway.

The two men fought outside the house and the owner of the vehicle was stabbed before the other man fled in the car, Henderson Police spokesman Todd Rasmussen said.

Henderson Police officers spotted the car near Boulder Highway and Lake Mead Parkway and began a pursuit that was called off near Stephanie Street and Sunset Road, Rasmussen said.

By then, Metro Police had a helicopter following the vehicle and when Metro officers picked up the chase, the vehicle crashed into another car at Harmon Avenue and Mountain Vista Street, just east of U.S. 95, police said.

Metro officers took a suspect into custody, Rasmussen said.

The owner of the car was taken to Sunrise Hospital to be treated for his stab wounds, Rasmussen said.

The suspect also was taken to Sunrise after the crash, police said. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was taken to Desert Springs Hospital as a precaution, police said.

Police closed off Harmon Avenue and the surrounding area after the crash, but the roads have since reopened.
