Texas Fugitive Arrested on Murder, Arson Charges

A fugitive arson and capital murder suspect was arrested Tuesday morning in Starr County.

MCALLEN, Texas -- A fugitive arson and capital murder suspect was arrested Tuesday morning in Starr County.

Juan Carlos Sanchez, 45, is expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning, said Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino.

Sanchez faces charges in a 2010 slaying and in a fire this past weekend that burned his ex-girlfriend's home outside Alamo while she and her daughter were inside.

The 39-year-old mother suffered second-degree burns to her legs and was taken to the Army Brook Medical Center in San Antonio and is expected to recover.
