May 14--Two Detroit residents were killed early Sunday after a robber began firing into a party bus parked near a bar in Pontiac, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
It was one of two double homicides Sunday that left Detroiters dead, police said.
Officials gave this account:
The party bus shooting occurred about 2 a.m., when a gunman approached a 30-year-old Clinton Township man standing outside Porky's Bar at the corner of Kennett and Baldwin.
The gunman demanded the man's money, and he gave the robber his Cartier glasses and cash.
As the robbery was taking place, people on a party bus parked near the corner started yelling and shouting at the robber, and he started firing rounds into the bus. A total of 19 people were on the bus, including the driver.
At 2:12 a.m., the bus driver flagged down passing sheriff's deputies, saying people had been shot on the bus.
The deputies found three bullet holes in the bus. Anthony Ellis, 28, of Detroit was on the floor of the bus, and Shuntrice Sylvester, 19, of Detroit was slumped in her seat.
They were taken to McLaren Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made. Sheriff's officials could not be reached for additional information, and no one answered at Porky's Bar.
Also Sunday, the bodies of a man and woman were found inside a home on Detroit's east side, Detroit police said.
A family member discovered the bodies of a woman, 61, and a man, 71, in the 3100 block of Lenox, according to a news release.
EMS workers pronounced both victims dead at the scene. They suffered injuries to their bodies, but the cause of death is pending autopsies, police said.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide unit at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAKUP (800-773-2587).
