Oct. 10--A woman who was arrested last year on charges of being drunk and disorderly during Leesburg's Bikefest has filed a lawsuit accusing law-enforcement officers of knocking out her teeth and leaving her half naked in view of others.
Ashleigh Davis, 32, filed a suit against the Leesburg Police Department and Lake County Sheriff's Office this week in Marion County. Authorities used excessive force when they tackled the Ocala woman and humiliated her when they "hog tied" her and carted her off topless in a golf course through the festival, said Stan Plappert, the attorney representing Davis.
"During the tackle, her bikini top came off," the Ocala attorney said.
He said she was left half-naked as officers teased her while she was in the holding cell at the Leesburg police station. She remained topless as she was transported to the Lake County Jail in Tavares, he added.
"The way she was treated was despicable. It was inhuman," Plappert said.
Spokesmen for both agencies didn't immediately return phone calls.
