A man is facing criminal charges after allegedly creating a parody Facebook page for an Ohio police department.
Anthony Novak was arrested and faces a possible felony count of disrupting public services for the account mimicking the Parma Police Department's official page that was created earlier this month, according to The Plain Dealer.
Officials say that the page created by the 27-year-old -- which has since been deactivated -- contained what "derogatory" and "inflammatory" information that appeared as though it was coming directly from the department.
The page featured fake news items, made up crimes and jokes that took a swipe at the department.
One post included a phony explanation for how the department selects its new recruits:
"The test will consist of a 15 question multiple choice definition test followed by a hearing test. Should you pass you will be accepted as an officer of the Parma Police Department."
Lt. Kevin Riley said that while the department recognizes citizens' rights to exercise their freedom of speech, department officials believe the parody page went too far.
