April 24, 2024
While Warren police were trying to arrest a suspect on a bus on the grounds, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old allegedly assaulted and seriously injured an officer.

An Eastpointe teen and two 18-year-olds were charged with multiple counts on Tuesday in connection with a fight at Warren Lincoln High School that injured a Warren police officer.

Danasia Kennedy-Johnson of Eastpointe was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony; assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer causing injury, a four-year felony; malicious destruction of property $200 — $999, a one-year misdemeanor; and disorderly person, a 90-day misdemeanor.

Xavier Tayvione-Demarr Jones of Warren was charged with three counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, two-year felonies and disorderly person.

Both Kennedy-Johnson and Jones are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in 37th Warren District Court

The 17-year-old Eastpointe juvenile was charged with assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer causing injury; two counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer; malicious destruction of property $200-$999 and disturbing the peace.

A preliminary hearing was conducted in the Macomb County Juvenile Court where Chief Juvenile Referee Linda Harrison granted the Macomb County Prosecutor's request to deny bond and hold the juvenile in the Juvenile Justice Center.

The juvenile is not a student at Lincoln High School.

It is alleged that on April 22 at approximately 2:50 p.m., Kennedy-Johnson and Jones were on school grounds at Lincoln High School on Federal Avenue near Van Dyke Avenue and Nine Mile Road with the intentions of fighting a student on a bus. Two Warren police officers attempted to arrest Jones when he resisted officers causing them all to fall to the ground.

The officers were struggling to bring Jones under control when the 17-year-old juvenile and Kennedy-Johnson allegedly assaulted the officer. The officer was admitted to the hospital in serious condition and may have suffered a concussion.

Captain James Wolf stated during Tuesday night's Warren City Council meeting that the officer was released from the hospital and is home recovering.
