Brite-Strike APALS; All Purpose Adhesive Light Strips have revolutionized the LMD/IMD; Lighted Marking Device/Illuminated Marking Device category. “We are replacing 1960s technology, chemical light sticks, with our standard APALS with LED based technology providing average runtimes of 200 hours,” said Brite-Strike USA President/CEO Glenn Bushee.
“The US military had a requirement for long term LMD/IMD that can
operate in remote areas for months. We responded with our Solar Powered APALS which will run for 12 hours between charges and have an expected operational life of one year. The SP-APALS will operate in either steady on or strobe modes and shuts off at light and turns back on automatically at night. APALS are shockproof, dustproof and waterproof tested to a depth of 200 feet. This is not your average driveway solar
light as we had to develop all the components as nothing in the market was thin or rugged enough for our needs,” Mr. Bushee said. “The technology is proprietary and has multiple patents pending.”
It would take 730 chemical light sticks at a cost of over $1,200 to provide one year of light. A Solar Powered APALS will provide light for one year* and has a retail of around $20.00. “This is a tremendous cost savings and the fact that you do not have over 700 plastic husks littering the woods and streams and later landfills for generations to come is simply invaluable,” Bushee stated.
“The implication for the product goes well beyond military and outdoor recreation as third world countries could use this small, light weight, super low cost product as a portable lighting system for homes and outbuildings,” said Mr. Bushee. “Place them in the sun for a few hours a day and you have lighting that will last for 12 hours wherever and whenever you need it in a package the size of a band aid,” Mr. Bushee also said. “Solar Powered APALS will revolutionize the way first responders mark people, buildings, and things during natural disasters,” Bushee said.
