Houston Police Arrest 2 in Killing of Off-Duty New Orleans Officer

According to police, Saturday's shooting stemmed from a "robbery gone bad," and Det. Everett Briscoe was targeted for his expensive jewelry.

Houston police arrested two men in connection with the slaying of an off-duty New Orleans police officer over the weekend.

Frederick Jackson, 19, and Anthony Jenkins, 21, were charged with capital murder and attempted capital murder in connection with a shooting at a restaurant Saturday that killed Det. Everett Briscoe and critically wounded Dyrin Riculfy, KPRC-TV reports. Jenkins was arrested Wednesday, and Jackson was apprehended Thursday.

    According to police during a Friday news conference, the shooting stemmed from a "robbery gone bad." The two suspects had possibly targeted Briscoe for his expensive jewelry, according to KPRC.
