A Michigan man was removed from an SUV and taken into custody after U.S. Capitol Police spotted a suspicious vehicle near the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.
A man was taken into custody after a suspicious vehicle was spotted near the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.
In a social media post, the U.S. Capitol Police warned the public to stay away a suspicious SUV in front of the Supreme Court along First Street, NE. Oral arguments were set for 10 a.m. and were not disrupted by the incident, ABC News reports.
Police said they were talking to the driver of the vehicle during the investigation. The man—Dale Paul Melvin, of Kimball, MI—eventually was removed from the vehicle.
"The man is in custody," police stated. "Everyone is safe."
Capitol Police are set to have a news conference later in the day.
