Bodyguard Armoring developed a rigid armor "cod piece" to be worn under police body armor's groin protector flaps. While these groin protectors do provide protection, if a bullet hit there officers would still suffer extreme damage to a very sensitive area. Body armor vests have semi rigid trauma plates that keep bullets from smashing (but not penetrating) the heart, and the groin protectors need something comparable to prevent damage to the privates.
These pieces could be worn during a SWAT raid and removed afterward.
