First responders (the people who run into a burning building as you’re running out) have the job of keeping us safe... but, what keeps them safe? It’s usually EMT uniform manufacturer Gibson-Barnes, that has spent over 30 years studying and improving safety equipment and uniforms for those responders “on the front lines.” Today, Gibson-Barnes announces the release of uniforms and jackets featuring their revolutionary new Defiant Plus Fire Retardant fabrics.
For years, Nomex has been the “go-to” fabric of choice for fire retardancy. But Gibson-Barnes’ new uniforms, made with Defiant Plus, are eclipsing Nomex features.
The most important feature in first responder’s uniform is fire protection. In tests, Defiant Plus fabric had only a 23% body burn rate, compared to 34% for comparable weight Nomex--an improvement that will save lives and reduce injury. Defiant Plus is also softer on the skin and outperforms Nomex in shrinking and charring in burn tests.
