GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The Greenville County Sheriff's Office on Monday released body camera footage from a fatal deputy-involved shooting from last month.
Deputies responded to a mobile home at 217 Murrell Road, Lot 48 in reference to a 911 call from a man claiming he was being poisoned on Feb. 10, according to a news release.
When they arrived on the scene, deputies heard a gunshot from inside the mobile home and retreated behind the patrol vehicles to seek cover.
A woman can be heard calling out to deputies to say she had been shot. Just moments later, 34-year-old Willie Jermaine Robinson steps out of the home armed with a handgun.
Robinson can be seen holding his hands in the air outside of the home as deputies repeatedly tell him to drop the weapon and get down on the ground.
"We don't want to kill you," deputies can be heard repeatedly saying. They continued to negotiate with the man while taking cover behind a nearby mobile home.
At one point, Robinson turns toward the deputies, who then fired at Robinson, striking him at least once.
The man was later pronounced dead.
The South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting.
