Bodycam Captures Brutal Attack on Okla. Police Officer During Call
Disturbing and violent body camera footage shows the brutal attack of an Oklahoma City police officer during a domestic abuse call last month.
The Oklahoma City Police Department released the video of the assault on Sgt. Morgan Reynolds on Monday. The incident happened April 27 as Reynolds was investigating a domestic abuse call and encountered 26-year-old DeAngelo Wright, who was wanted on two felony warrants.
When Reynolds confronted Wright, he attacked her and continued to beat her even after she lost consciousness, according to police. The attack wasn't stopped until a bystander jumped on Wright, who then began assaulting the witness.
Wright fled the scene, and officers found him hours later, hiding nearby. He was charged on multiple counts and is being held on $10 million bond.
Along with the outstanding warrants, Wright has a checkered criminal history. He was jailed for domestic abuse and possessing a firearm as a felon. Her served eight months of a two-year sentence, from October 2021 until June 2022.
In May 2021, Wright was arrested on two counts of assault and battery on a police officer and a count of resisting arrest. He pleaded guilty to resisting arrest, and the two counts of assault and battery on a police officer were dismissed.
