Nevada deputies made an unusual rescue recently, helping free a bear trapped inside a car.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office posted a video of the daring save Sunday. The body camera footage showed deputies from the agency's Incline patrol responding to a residence after the homeowners found a bear inside their vehicle.
In a show of on-the-spot ingenuity, the deputies devised a way to free the bear from the car but still keeping their distance from the animal. In the video, a deputy ties rope to the car door and then retreats to the woods before giving a yank and opening the door from afar.
Once the car door opened, the bear quickly fled back into the woods. No one was injured in the rescue.
"Spring is an active time for our Tahoe bear population and a good reminder to be bear-aware when enjoying the beautiful outdoors," the sheriff's office wrote in a social media post.
