Recently released body camera footage captured a harrowing incident earlier this year in which a 4-year-old boy opened fire on Utah police officers outside a fast food restaurant.
On Feb. 21, Unified Police Department officers were called to a McDonald's restaurant in Midvale concerning reports of a man with a gun in the drive-through lane who was upset with his order, KTVX-TV reports. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two children—ages 4 and 3—inside the car with the man.
Police ordered the armed man to exit the car, but he wouldn't comply. Officers then forcibly pulled him from the vehicle.
While police were apprehending the suspect, the 4-year-old boy in the car had picked up a gun, pointed it out the window and fired. An officer quickly swept the gun away.
According to police, the boy told officers that he grabbed the gun because he wanted his dad back.
The man was charged with child abuse, aggravated assault and interference with an arresting officer after police.
