A woman wanted on a felony warrant tried to escape Florida deputies by scaling down a two-story apartment wall this week.
The incident happened Tuesday as Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies served a warrant on Quanae Toussaint, 27, at an apartment, WTSP-TV reports. Deputies were able to find the unit she was in, but when they knocked the door down, she was lowering herself out the window.
As Toussaint hung from the ledge, a deputy tried to pull her back up, while other deputies gathered underneath her outside. Deputies inside the unit were eventually able to pull her up, and she was taken into custody. She was wanted on felony warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) and discharge of a firearm on a public or residential property.
"To see our deputies shift from making an arrest to preserving life is commendable," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement posted online. "This criminal had no intention of being arrested, and I couldn't be more proud of our team for taking her into custody safely."
"PSA: Don't try to scale your apartment building to elude," the sheriff office added in the online post.
