Watch N.J. Police Officers Save Choking Baby with Heimlich Maneuver

Sept. 10, 2024
Two Hightstown police officers are being credited with saving the life of a young child when they used the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge an object from the choking infant's throat.

Body camera footage captured the fast response by New Jersey police earlier this year to save a chocking baby.

The incident happened March 31 when Hightstown police responded to a call concerning a child in distress, New Jersey News 12 reports. When Officers Kenneth Larsen and Daniel Abbatemarco reached the scene, they found a baby choking on some type of object.

In the footage, Larsen begins performing the Heimlich maneuver on the infant, and he quickly dislodged the object. Soon after, the child is heard crying.
