Jan. 3, 2025
NYPD officers are being praised for their quick actions when they responded to a call concerning an unconscious infant and cleared a blockage in the child's throat.

NYPD officers saved the life of a choking 22-day-old child by clearing a blockage in the infant's throat last week.

The incident happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. Dec. 27 when officers in the 72 precinct responded to a call of an unconscious baby, the department stated in an online update. The social media post also included footage from an officer's body camera.

Once officers reached the scene, they found an unresponsive 22-day-old infant. The officers jumped into action, slapping the child on the back and clearing the blockage.

After the blockage was cleared, the infant regained consciousness. In the footage, the child can be heard crying once the blockage is cleared.

No details were released about the infant's condition following the rescue.
