A wanted child sexual assault suspect was shot and wounded during a struggle inside a home with a Milwaukee police officer that broke out when the man pulled out a gun.

A Milwaukee police officer shot and wounded a wanted child sexual assault suspect earlier this month during a struggle after the man allegedly pulled a gun on the officer.

The agency released body camera footage of the incident involving the suspect, Emilio Arner-Ortiz, this week. The shooting happened at a home at about 9:30 p.m. Jan. 6, WTMJ-TV reports.

In the footage leading up to the shooting, police can be seen talking with inside the house before Arner-Ortiz draws a firearm. An officer begins fighting with the suspect, and a shot is fired from the officer's gun.

Arner-Ortiz was struck by the shot, and he was rushed to the hospital. He's expected to recover from his injuries, and he was charged Jan. 10. Charges include abduction of a child and intentionally pointing a firearm at law enforcement officers.
