A man is dead after being shot by police who were responding to a domestic dispute. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
On Nov. 21, 2024, officers with the Charleston Police Department were dispatched to a dispute reportedly involving an armed man, later identified as Andrew Williams, 37. Upon arriving, officers witnessed Williams in a domestic feud while armed, according to a news release.
During their encounter with Williams, officers shot him, the release said. He was transported to an area hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.
SLED is investigating the shooting, which marks the third officer involved shooting this year for the Charleston Police Department. The department had no officer involved shootings last year, according to SLED.
