3rd Annual National Police K-9 Memorial Service

Feb. 6, 2020
Join us to honor our nation's K-9 fallen heroes.

Editor's Note: Update, this event has been postponed. The Foundation is working with the NLEOMF for an alternative date.

The National Police Dog Foundation, FOP DC Lodge #1, Courageous Tails, and United for Blue are co-hosting the 3rd Annual National Police K-9 Memorial Service.

On Monday, May 11, 2020, the ceremony will begin at 1:00 pm and will be held at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, 450 F St. NW Washington DC, 20001.

The memorial service will include a wreath laying ceremony to honor the memory of fallen police K-9s (download list) who have given their lives in the line of duty during 2019.

The National Police Dog Foundation has established the K-9 Memorial Fund to honor these fallen K-9 heroes. Consider a donation to the K-9 Memorial Fund for the continuation of this event and keep our K-9 units strong. Donations help with (not limited to) the replacement and training of fallen K-9s and the Annual Police K-9 Memorial Service.

The National Police Dog Foundation

The National Police Dog Foundation began in 1998 as a small group of local volunteers to help fund the K-9 program for the City of Ventura, CA. They soon realized the importance of a civilian organization to help fund K-9 units. Not only do police departments lack the initial funds to purchase and train a dog, but many also do not have a budget for serious medical issues.

Word spread quickly and due to increased requests for assistance from K-9 units, the Foundation expanded regionally and became the National Police Dog Foundation. The Board of Directors, the Executive Officers, and all of the active Committee Members are volunteers enabling every donation to be applied for maximum benefit directly to the K9s.

In 2004, the National Police Dog Foundation expanded its support across the nation by adding several programs. We currently assist law enforcement agencies with funding to achieve their goals of providing their community with K-9 units that have high-quality and well-trained police dogs. The Foundation offers assistance to Police Service K9s by awarding Grants in the areas of Purchase, Training, Retired K9 Veterinary Care, Active K9 Veterinary Care, and several other programs.

In addition, the Foundation has developed a network of veterinarians who help assist agencies with costly medical situations that might occur during their active service career. Equally important to our Foundation is the continued care for the police service dog after it retires. Our network of veterinarians includes some of the country’s most valued specialists in many varying areas of health care.

The National Police Dog Foundation is registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. Our tax identification number is 77-0496014.
