Georgia Officer Saves Two Lives in Two Hours

A police officer in Holly Springs, Ga. is being credited with saving two lives in two hours over the weekend.

Sgt. Nathan Ernst was working the night shift on May 30, during which he assisted in saving the lives of two people, according to a department news release.

First, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Ernst responded to an agency assist call from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office in reference to an unconscious male. Upon arrival, he found a 24-year-old male in the floor with labored breathing.

The officer was advised that the man had used Heroin. Ernst immediately administered Narcan and the man regained consciousness and was transported to a local hospital for further care.

Then, at approximately 10:53 p.m., Ernst was responding to a structure fire call, and while en route he was advised that a handicapped woman who was trapped in the living room.

When he arrived on scene he found the roof and door engulfed in flames. Ernst and Cherokee County Deputy Sgt. Derek Voss entered the house and found a bedridden woman lying in a hospital bed.

Together they carried the woman out to safety where she was checked out by EMS on scene.
