Virginia Trooper Critically Injured in Crash

The trooper lost control of his vehicle, flipped into the woods and struck hit trees Monday morning.

A Virginia State Police trooper sustained life-threatening injuries after his cruiser flipped in Prince George's County Monday morning.

The trooper was responding to another crash on Route 460 in Dinwiddie around 7:10 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, flipped into the woods and struck several trees, according to WTVR.

He was extricated from his vehicle by responders and flown to VCU Medical Center.

Officials told the newspaper that the trooper was responding at a high rate of speed after learning that another trooper was injured in the reported crash. That report turned out to be false.

The crash is currently under investigation.
