A sheriff's deputy in Storey County, Nevada was wounded by a gunman while responding to a call Saturday afternoon.
Deputies arrived on the scene of a reported domestic violence incident in the Virginia City Highlands around 4:30 p.m. when 51-year-old Charles Stutts allegedly fired multiple rounds from a rifle, striking a deputy and another individual, according to KOLO-TV.
Storey County Sheriff Gerald Antinoro told reporters that the deputy wounded deputy was able to return fire, causing suspect to surrender. Stutts was then taken into custody without further incident.
The deputy, Stutts and the other person were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Stutts was then booked into the Storey County Jail on charges of attempted murder of a peace officer, attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery.
The Nevada Department of Public Safety is currently investigating the shooting.
