Newly released dashcam video shows a Good Samaritan tackle a man attacking a police officer in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Officers responded to a call from a grocery store after a clerk recognized two men suspected of using clone credit cards to buy gift cards, according to ABC News.
Jennifer Wagnon of the Edmond Police Department said that when the clerk told the men he would have to get his supervisor to approve the transaction, they ran out of the store. The supervisor then called police, which alerted a nearby officer on patrol.
The officer spotted the suspects run into a dance studio and when he confronted them, an altercation ensued.
Patrol car footage shows one of the suspects drag the officer on the ground while kicking and punching him. Another officer arrives on the scene and tries to restrain the suspect as the second suspect flees the scene in their car.
Suddenly a bystander is seen joining in the altercation before he tackles the suspect to the ground. "That's pretty indicative of the community we serve in," Wagnon told ABC News. "The community we serve in is very supportive of law enforcement."
Police took the suspect in custody but are currently searching for the second man. Yohanker Paradela-Moreu is currently being held on a $200,000 bond at the county jail.
