A Louisville police officer was wounded and a suspect was fatally shot Saturday night.
Officers were called to the 1200 block of Oleanda Avenue around 10:30 p.m. for a report of a home invasion when the shooting occurred, according to WLKY.
Louisville Police Chief Steve Conrad told the news station that the officers called for back up when they arrived on scene after receiving reports that someone was still inside.
Officers then came across 32-year-old William Young Jr., who opened fire on the officers, hitting one of them.
The officers then returned fire, killing Young.
Officials said the officer suffered an an injury to his chest and a gunshot wound in the hand.
"(The officer) has been transported to University Hospital where we anticipate he will either potentially have surgery or he will be treated for his injuries," Conrad said.
